Seckt analyzed the situation. He has had much experience in close-quarters combat, which was probably a reason why he was chosen to lead this mission. The men affected by the flash grenade had fully returned to their senses by now. To return the favor would provide minimal advantages, mainly temporarily stopping the firing of the Maracaian enemy. However, a lethal grenade would do so permanently. The close walls would amplify the effects, thus deafening many, perhaps also permanently.
Then Seckt turned to his demolition expert. "Launch several grenades. Tick them until prime before launch," he ordered. "Tick them until prime" was a common order. It meant to withhold throwing them until they would explode before giving enough time for the enemy to return the grenade. The soldier complied.

"Take cover!" somebody shouted. Alpha saw a dark object flying right towards him, but before he could react, the object exploded with a deafening sound. Alpha was thrown back, unable to move or give orders to his squad. Then, he realized that his arm was torn off by the explosion. He wanted to scream, but no sound was coming out of his throat, or at least he did not hear it. Then, the world around him turned black.
The squad tried to rescue the wounded and retreated. With two fallen, an unconscious leader and several men unable to fight, they had no other option but to await further orders by the chief of security.

"They're retreating!" a Szoran soldier yelled.
"Hold positions!" Seckt ordered. "Staff Sergeant Ozck, return to primary objective!" Ozck returned to his makeshift console, hacking away at the system. Seckt knew they were going to counterattack. He looked to his men; none were dead. This was strange. Seckt thought that in a stand-your-ground firefight, he would have lost two or three men. Upon looking at the injuries, he saw that the Maracaian were using nonlethals. Diplomacy was not a strength of his, but he knew that they were going to experience trouble like they've never known before.
Briefly, but only ever so, Seckt pondered failure. He quickly threw aside the notion, and knew it was not an option.

The chief of security has witnessed the entire fight through one of his security cameras. Trying to attack the intruders while they are inside the computer room was hopeless, and Alpha Squad was unable to continue the fight. He went through his options; the easiest solution was to seal off the entire area and vent the airlocks, though it would make it a lot harder to find out who was behind this attack.
Then, he came up with a new plan; "Attention, brothers. Move to the following coordinates and hide wherever you can, may it be in the ventilation, or behind the wall paneling. If the enemy passes by, await my signal until you attack." His plan was simple: He would let his drones engage the enemy forces. Then, in the heat of the battle, his squads would ambush them in close combat.

"Upload completed," Ozck announced. He handed Seckt a copy of the data.
"Excellent. They'll be on alert now. Maintain defensive form omega," Seckt ordered. Thirteen squad members stood shoulder-to-shoulder in an outside ring. All faced the outside. The remaining five stood with their backs to each other in the inside ring. Seckt and Ozck were included in the inside ring. Seckt commanded: "Forward, soldiers. Let this march be towards victory."
However, they were walking straight into Maracaian hands.

"This is Gamma Squad, we have visual contact"
The chief watched them on his monitors, and replied "Stay at your position, the defense drones are already on their way."
The members of Gamma Squad were only a few inches away from their targets. Fortunately, their temporary cover hid their heat signature well enough, and they could already hear the slight humming sound of the drones' antigrav engines. Then, the loud screaming sound of plasmagunfire broke through the silence.

"Halt," Seckt ordered. A humming could be heard. Looking around, most of his view was blocked by his fellow squad mates.
From somewhere behind him, a plasma blast echoed. A Szoran grunt followed. Someone was hit. "Soldier hit!" a squad member cried.
"Open fire!" Seckt ordered. The humming intensified, and the plasma shot was responded with ballistic fire.

Tefal's plan was working out well, yet. As the intruders fought the drones, he gave the awaited command to Gamma Squad.
The Maracaian warriors activated their paralyzing staffs and crushed through their cover. The glowing staffs were originally used to tame Zaalu beasts, so they were considered powerful enough to knock out most alien lifeforms as well.
The first few hostiles were caught off guard, and quickly engaged in close combat. While the staffs were indeed effective, the aliens were alot taller and stronger than Gamma Squad expected, and one unlucky squadmember was sent to the ground after his opponent smashed his rifle against his head.
They would have to make up this disadvantage with their swiftness.

Controlled bursts of ballistic fire rained all 360 degrees. Swarms of drones were overrunning the Szorans, and many have become incapacitated.
Seckt looked around himself; he saw only ten of his squad mates left standing. After smashing the butt of his rifle into a Maracaian, he saw another comrade fall, this one to a strange, new weapon. It was some type of staff, and it was unknown as to whether or not it was lethal. Seckt assumed lethal.

The fight was going well for the Maracaian security forces. With the drones on one side and Gamma Squad on the other, the intruders were trapped within a small corridor segment. However, about half of the alien squad was still standing, and they appeared to be unwilling to surrender.
To end this fight quickly, the Maracaians headed for the one intruder whom they believed to be the leader, as they have seen him issuing orders before.

Now, only six Szoran soldiers stood.
Between the masses of whizzing drones, and the Maracaians, Seckt's ammunition was running low. Quickly, he found himself being targeted. He chuckled inside. Fools, he thought, targeting the strongest of us? They obviously know little, or fear not their own death.
Once Seckt ran out of his ammunition, even the extra clips, he threw his rifle, which was armed with a bayonet, at a Maracaian. Drawing his officer's sword, he stood at the ready to cut down any foe.

"His weapon is jammed! It's now or never!", one of the Maracaians said, and two others were quickly following him towards the alien leader, while the rest of gamma squad was trying to seperate him from his remaining men.
The alien quickly realized what was happening, and threw his bladed weapon right at the Maracaians. One of them got cut deeply into his arm, but he ignored the pain and continued his attack.
They sorrounded the alien leader, and waited for the right moment to attack. Surprisingly, their opponent wasn't looking frightened, or even slightly worried. As far as the Maracaians could tell, he was smiling.

Seckt looked upon his foes, and grinned. He loved the heat of battle. It has been a while since he's faced this many men. Adrenaline pumped through his veins, numbing all pain, and increased his strength exponentially. Seeing as they stood waiting, seeking for an opportunity to strike, his grin grew. They were cautious: as they should be.
Seckt targeted the most scared-looking Maracaian soldier, and swung his blade at him.

The alien's strike was fast and unexpected; While the Maracaian warriors were waiting for the right moment to attack, he already sliced one of them into halves. Blood was spilled over the walls and floor, and the mutilated body fell onto the ground.
The remaining two Maracaians were shocked; none of the other intruders was even half as swift and agile as this one. They looked around, hoping for reinforcement, but their brethren were still fighting the remaining hostiles between the rubble that used to be a primary corridor of this facility.
Left with no other choices, they attacked the alien from two opposing sides.

Seckt took a step back, expecting an immediate retaliation for their fallen. However, they showed hesitancy, for which he will take advantage of. Before he could strike again, he found himself between two Maracaians. He chuckled at the new challenge. He could not look at both at the same time: Seckt improvised.
In one fluid motion, Seckt turned, so one Maracaian was to his left, the other to his right, and cut his sword out left, purposely missing, and took up a defensive pose, waiting for them to strike.

With quite an obvious miss, the alien captain engaged one of his two opponents. The attacked Maracaian dodged and stepped back to his position. 'He is playing with us', he thought. Their opponent was sure about his victory, and he would likely succeed if they don't come up with a plan.
Then, he saw an idling drone which has just fulfilled it's previous task, and he had an idea.
He gave a hand signal to the drone; the machine understood, and charged up it's weapon, waiting for the two Maracaian warriors to strike.

Seeing the hand gesture, Seckt turned to see to whom it was directed to. However, he had not much time before the two Maracaians were upon him. He had to act defensively, to preserve his life. He was able to glance at two Szoran soldiers still fighting, before he felt a heat like none other in his thigh. Crippled, Seckt staggered away from his foes, and could not take action against a falling staff.
Beaten, bleeding, Lieutenant Vinter Seckt layed upon the cold floor, unconscious.

The plan worked, their leader has fallen. His remaining subordinates were infuriated by this sight, and one of them yelled something in a strange language. But outnumbered and low on supplies, they were doomed to fail.
Meanwhile, a Maracaian medic kneeled down next to the injured alien, and attempted to safe the live of the creature that was responsible for the death of so many. Gamma Squadleader sceptically looked over the broken body of their foe.
"Will he survive?", he asked.
"There is not much I can do, this is different from anything I have encountered so far. I may be able stop the bleeding, but that's all.", was the medic's reply.
"Fine, do whatever you can, chief Tefal ordered us to bring this... alien... to him. Alive."

Seckt stirred. Only able to slightly raise his head, what he saw was through a hazy mist. He felt like he was being dragged, clumsily. He felt as if his right thigh was alight with flame, but he could not move his head to see. If he could have, his ruby, scaly skin would not help in detecting the fire with his hazy vision.
Seckt heard muttering. He could not make out what was being said; it was not in his native tongue. Skeckt could tell it was Maracaian. His mind was like his vision, and he could not interpret the speech he once had known, and probably will again after full consciousness. For now, he drifted into the return of unconsciousness.

"Do you think he is a... a Dominatus?"
"...what?"
Gamma Squadleader stopped dragging the heavy alien as his frightened brother spoke out his thoughts. They lacked a gurney large enough to carry the massive body, so they had to improvise.
"A Dominatus. Never heard of them? A malicious species living at the edge of known space. I heard strange traders talking about them once, they seemed to be worried."
The Squadleader sighed. "You don't believe in these fairy tales, do you? Listen, these traders are traveling vast distances, and their minds are suffering from isolation. No Maracaian ship has ever reported contact with something called Dominatus, and as long as the Great Gathering doesn't tell us otherwise, I do not believe in their existence. Now would you please help me getting this huge bastard to the chief?"
The door to the interrogation room opened, and the two Maracaian warriors went in, dragging their unconscious foe with them. Chief Tefal was already waiting inside; he was a frightening sight even to those who already knew him. As a veteran of the Great Ikindir War, he was about 170 years old, and four of his six limbs have been replaced with mechanical protheses during that time.
He looked at the alien, and quickly identified him as a Szor. "Go. Your help is no longer needed." The two younger Maracaians quickly followed this order and left the room.
